Some group has the horrible idea to bring back the 55 speed limit.
According to a recent GHSA press release, “Since Congress repealed the national speed limit in 1995, much of the public has perceived speed limits as merely guidelines and not the law.”
No, we’ve always thought they were guidlines. They’re just not as dumb as they used to be.
Oh, and mulcting. I learn something every day.
Not So Fast 
I’ve seen statistics that suggest that when the speedlimits went from 55 to 65/70 the number of deaths per highway mile travelled actually decreased rather dramatically. Lots of factors involved… but who’s to say that we SHOULD have a speed limit?
Maybe we should just be more choosy about who we let drive.
As long as we choose to let me drive, it’s a great idea.
