Calvinism vs. Armenianism. Normally I avoid this fight, but surprisingly, the comments are interesting.

My opinion: I certainly have Calvinist leanings, and some of my favorite commentary and systematic theology authors are Calvinists. But there’s a balance that gets lost quickly when people become “Calvinists” instead of Christians, if you know what I mean. They tend to go to one extreme or the other. The super-legalists and the antinomians. My other qualm is the five points are extremely logical, but not particularly biblical when you get to the end of the proof. Yes, there are proof texts for each point, but if you take everything in context it just doesn’t prove what you want it too. And Hebrews 10, that’s a toughie.

Plus there’s that one tape of R.C. Sproul where he explained he was teaching theWestminster Confession to his church on Sunday mornings? What? That just grates against my Calvary Chapel soul. Have a class if you want, but teach the bible. John 17:17, yo.
