Singularities: Not just for astronomy anymore

Somehow I doubt the future will be all roses and rainbows, no matter how intertwined we become with machines. People’s basic nature hasn’t changed noticablely in the last 4000 years of recorded history, I don’t know see why having really nice gadgets implanted would change that. Not to mention that a significant chunk of the world won’t even accept genetically modified food, how’s genetically modified people going to go over? Still, if you want to send me the book so Kurzweil can change my mind, my wishlist is to your right.
