The reason the Gulf Coast is suffering from hurricanes is that hurricanes form over warm water. Why would God punishing everyone, Christian and non-Christian? Whatever happened to no longer saying the fathers have eaten sour grapes and set their childrens teeth on edge? Does God now punish the righteous for the deeds of the unrighteous?
We live in a fallen world, yes. Bad things happen to everyone. Bad weather, bad earthquakes, bad people, bad diseases, bad accidents. Ecclesiastes says the just die in their righteousness and the unjust live on in their wickedness. Why? Because stuff happens to everyone. There are consequences to sin in this life, but the punishment from God for them comes at the Great White Throne I do not believe you can biblical support the idea that these hurricanes are God’s judgment.
Which is not to say that with more unbelieers in the country there won’t be more problems. After all, there will be more consequences if there’s more sin.
Also, God does not want you to worship him to get something out of it, in this case a reprieve from hurricanes. He’s not really pragmatic.
