To attract current iPod users Microsoft is going to let you download for free any songs you’ve already bought from the iTunes Music Store. They’ll actually scan iTunes for purchased tracks and then automatically add those to your account.

Surprisingly cool move for Microsoft.

    Technically those songs have been already paid for, so I’m wondering if they can negotiate a better rate with the record labels….

    I’m guessing that not even Microsoft can compete with the power of the RIAA. Should the Borg ever attack earth, I’m convinced that the **AAs can defeat them and send them whimpering back to their own galaxy fearing lawsuits.
