Metablogging

Unlike the big boys, my numbers tend to go up when I’m not posting. If I wanted to hit the big time I think promising not to post ever again would work best.

Don’t worry, I’m not offended by that.

  1. I can’t imagine what “hovering around 57,000” would look like.

I think it is sad that people worry so much about stats that they would forgo taking a vacation. Of course blogging isn’t how I pay the bills (imagine that!).

Thought it was good that Reynolds said “I need a vacation more than I care about the traffic.”

And doesn’t it seem obvious that readership would fall when on vacation? They aren’t posting so there aren’t new things to read (although people could browse the archives) therefore fewer readers. The writer of the article makes it seem like this is a surprising turn of events…

  2. I bet those guys that don’t vacation weren’t the type to vacation before they started blogging though.

Of course their loyal base will be back, but I imagine when money enters into it those extra clicks count.

Journalists are fantastic at stating the obvious in an authoritative and “this just in” way. It’s their job.

  3. Yeah, you are probably right. Maybe some day I will be able to tell you first hand… or not.

    Darn journalists and their ways.

  4. Oh I do dare. I double dare.
