PC World ranks the 50 best tech products evar. I was expecting more along the lines of fire, the wheel, abacus, Babbage Difference Engine, Turing machine, ENIAC, you know, that sort of thing.
Instead I got Epson MX-80, Mirablis ICQ, and Netscape Navigator. All time = 30 years at PC World.
They did say “tech PRODUCTS” … fire isn’t a product – it’s a byproduct of a technological advancement. Of course, using my logic, the PC is a byproduct of advancement as well … there may be a flaw that I’ll have to think through – but, in any instance, I see the difference in My Own Little World Where The Roses Grow Whatever Color I Deem Necessary

Fire became a product the first time someone traded a hunk of mammoth meat for a burning ember. It’s a technological advance until someone sells it and then it’s a product. Prometheus would be the winner there, I guess.
Maybe it’s “Spirit of the Law” vs “Letter of the Law” …
