In Britian, it’s no longer Islamic terrorism, it’s anti-Islamic activity.
But I don’t recall even Neville Chamberlain explaining, as if to a five-year old, that there is nothing German about the wish to terrorize and invade, and that this is entirely at odds with the core German values of sitting around eating huge sausages in beer gardens while wearing lederhosen.
Oddly, I can see that possibly having an effect, what with Al Qaeda recruiting British born nationals now. Probably not much of one, but enough, say, to possibly prevent the kids they recruited to run their Intertube sites…
But, yeah, otherwise its the new Newspeak.
Also, whatever detection software you’re using seems to think that Amazon.com is a phishing site and won’t let me post from work. š
Yes, the script kiddies are going to think, “Oh, it’s not terrorism? I don’t want to hurt my Islamic friends.” Okay, as I typed that I realized there might be someone dumb enough to think about it.
Well, if you’d stop trying to get my paypal/Chase/WaMu account numbers things like this wouldn’t happen…. I’ll look at my stuff.
Some of those kids are very malleable/programmable/gullible. I’m not saying that it’ll have an effect on those who have already been or are likely to be recruited; however, those who have grown up hearing the term might be less malleable in this regard.
I overheard (months back) a mother relating a story to her daughter about an event from “when she was a fetus.” That was just… weird. I imagine many people who abhor the thought of “aborting a baby” would probably be indifferent to “surgically removing a zygote.”
There are a *lot* of games one can play with words to manipulate the unwashed masses.
And you don’t have to worry about your account numbers. We already took a look; wasn’t worth stealing ’em. š
