I’m all for decency and protecting the children, but Utah’s internet porn law is dumb. Why is the ISPs job to provide internet filters? It’s not like they aren’t readily available to those concerned about this sort of thing. Do children not have parents in Utah?

Something I never thought of.
Yet having a common enemy in the Soviet Union misled some of us into thinking that an identical Europe and American would always see eye to eye, when we never really had — despite our cultural and democratic affinities. And now we have come to the end of the Age of Exception, a sobriety brought on by the fall of the Berlin Wall and the stark aftermath of September 11, which scrapped off the thin veneer and revealed particle board, not oak, beneath.
Ponderous man, really ponderous.

One wouldn’t commend a den of gambling and fornication to every spot on earth, but, driving through the Sunni Triangle, I couldn’t help feeling the history of the Middle East would have been a little different if smack in the middle of the Arabian desert you could have seen Wayne Newton with full supporting orchestra.

Okay, I just made this and it’s fantastic.
1 cup white rice (not instant or that fast cooking stuff)
1 can black beans (drained, reserve juice)
1 cup chicken stock
enough water to bring liquid amount to 2 1/2 cups
some olive oil
1/2 bell pepper diced finely
same amount of onion diced finely
3 garlic cloves diced finely
1 tsp tomato paste
~1 tsp chili powder
~2 tsp parsley
salt
In a saucepan heat olive oil and sweat garlic, onions, and bell pepper. When the onions are translucent, stir in tomato paste, keep stirring and let it cook a minute or so. Add rice. Add liquids, stir. Add chili powder, parsley, and some salt. Bring to boil, add beans, reduce heat, cover and simmer for, um, till the rice is done.
Share and enjoy.

It is, as the Manolo hopes he himself proves, possible to be both happy and have the seriousness of purpose at one and the same times. These things they are not imcompatible, it is simply the matter of everything having the proper place and the proper time.
